Automobile vs. Automobile vs. Trucks and other motor vehicles can cause severe injuries, such as bone fractures, burns, brain trauma, lost limbs, and neck and back injuries. Often times, these types of injuries can lead to a significant amount of time away from work and alter a person’s livelihood. After a car accident, it is important to take some time to learn about your rights as soon as possible and make an informed decision about how to proceed with a claim for the injuries and possible damages.

Legal claims that arise from motor vehicle accidents are typically governed by the law of negligence. Generally, people who operate automobiles must exercise “reasonable care under the circumstances” and when there is a lack of reasonable care arise to the level of negligence. As a result, a person who negligently operates a vehicle may be required to pay for any damages, either to a person or property for the accident caused by his or her negligence.

Additionally, it is necessary to calculate the damages lost as a result of pain, suffering, and loss of future wages based on figuring out who was negligent in the car accident. Often times although it may be known that a specific person is at fault, having an attorney will help in determining the rule(s) that were violated.  There are a number of sources to help determine who was at fault, such as police reports, state traffic laws, and witnesses.     • Failing to signal when turning
    • Driving above or below the posted speed limit
    • Disregard of weather or traffic conditions
    • Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
